The last day to test using the Cisco CCDE Practical Exam v1.0 is October 21, 2011. Candidates who are intending to take practical exams after October 22, 2011 should prepare using the CCDE Practical Exam Topics v2.0 as well as the CCDE Practical v2.0 Exam Preparation Checklist and the CCDE Written Exam Topics v2.0. The CCDE Practical Exam v2.0 is scheduled for its first administration at the end of March 2012.
The revised CCDE written and practical exams will cover advanced network infrastructure design principles and fundamentals, including analysis of design requirements, development of network design and related implementation plan, and validation and optimization of network design. Focus will be placed on the Layer 3 control plane, with additional emphasis on the Layer 2 control plane, network virtualization, and other design considerations such as Quality of Service (QoS), network management, security, and access technologies (such as wireless, optical, and SAN fabric deployment).
The revised CCDE written and practical exams are scheduled for release in all worldwide testing centers at the end of March 2012 and will replace Version 1.0 exams at that time.
